Kyli Berkley - PIANO
I began learning piano in first grade, but I did not fully appreciate my piano lessons until I reached middle school. Suddenly, the world of musical instruments opened up, and I felt like I began speaking music as a second language. I played piano, French horn, and electric bass regularly throughout middle school, high school, and college. I double majored in Chemistry and Music at Luther College, and while I am currently working towards a Ph.D. in Biochemistry at the University of IL, Chicago, I have continued to pursue my love of music as a fun hobby. Notably, I spent a year playing service music at my home church, St. John
Lutheran, during the time when many classes were moved online. Now, I continue to play piano and horn for church services with the occasional band concert at UIC. While I was too young to see it at the time, those early piano lessons taught me many skills that helped me become a successful student as well as a musician.
Commitment, perseverance, and responsibility all come with the territory of learning to play piano, no matter what age. I believe that all children should have the opportunity to explore what music has to offer. Learning any instrument allows children to develop technical skills, creativity, and a passion for music that follows them through life. I am looking forward to this opportunity to show kids how rewarding learning piano can be!

Music is forever; music should grow and mature with you, following you right on up until you die.
